As many people says, people do change. Even people whom you consider as one of the closest.
From strangers to best of friends to strangers. People who used to meet up daily, rant about everything under the sun, care for each other when one is ill and more... would suddenly "disappear" completely. It hurts deep down when you realise you are no longer the first person to be contacted. Communications between bth persons are kept to the minimum and will only "talk" through sms or email when there is a need to. Seeing each other everyday becomes a "pain", may it be the awkwardness or unwillingness to come to terms with reality.
Heartbreaking is the closest word I could think of to describe it.
